Since its launch, Toowoomba community members have brought their cars to our Toowoomba Hub to be washed by our excited Participants.  Eager to be a productive part of the community, our Participants gain a sense of achievement and financial independence by being able to earn a fair wage and manage their own money from working in the Community Car Wash. 

Organising the car wash is a passion project for Community Access Care founder Julie McCracken. Her dedication to inclusivity advocacy and helping Participants develop life skills and engage in paid work opportunities in a safe and enjoyable environment is the reason behind Community Access Care’s inception after all.

The Community Car wash aligns with our Social and Community Participation service and has been a huge success in providing a fun, safe community engagement opportunity for our Participants.

Our support service is focused on removing the stigma of people living with disabilities to bridge the gap in community interactions. The car wash may seem like a small task, but it is a huge step toward our Participants’ goal of living more independently.

The most asked Community Car Wash questions

1. Can I drive my car in without booking?

Of course! The car wash is open to the public Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm, and our Participants and Community Access Care team are ready when you are. However, we do encourage booking in advance as we have had to turn people away when they haven’t booked. Feel free to drive in and chat with our friendly team and Participants while you wait. 

2. How much does it cost?

We have 3 car wash types to choose from:

Express Wash

Small – $30

4WDs – $70

• Exterior clean only
• Hand wash with protective wax, chamois and tyre shine 

Silver Service

Small – $50

4WDs – $70

• Hand wash with protective wax, chamois and tyre shine 
• Interior wipe-down (Including dashboard and door jams)
• Vacuum

Gold Service

Small – $75

4WDs – $95

• All components of our Silver Service 
• Interior Armour All and hand paint polish service

3. Where is the car wash located?

The car wash is located at the Community Access Care Toowoomba Educational Hub, previously AVIS Car Rental, 260 Ruthven Street, North Toowoomba. 

We are committed to helping Participants acquire employment and training opportunities by creating situations where they can improve their social and living skills. That is our hope for the Community Car Wash, and so far, we are seeing a positive impact on our Participants.
