The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a federally funded scheme that provides individual funding packages for people under the age of 65 with a permanent or significant disability. The NDIS is designed to help people achieve their goals and live their best life, on their terms.
If you are eligible for NDIS support, you will work out what reasonable and necessary supports you need to live your life and achieve your goals. You’ll then receive funding from the government to pay for these supports.
For more information on NDIS support, visit their website.
What NDIS supports can you receive?
Just as every individual is different, so are the combination of disability supports and services, or early interventions, needed to help them achieve these goals.
It could be employment, respite care, short or long term accommodation, doing activities and more.
You get to choose when and where you receive your funded supports and which disability service providers you work with. Prior to the NDIS you had little control of the providers you could use, now the choice is yours.
