How to find a registered NDIS Service Provider
Finding the right NDIS service provider for your circumstances can seem like a difficult process. However, by availing yourself of all the resources available to you, you can connect with organisations that will best serve your interests. Here are three ways to find the right provider for you.
Online Directories
Your first port of call when looking for an NDIS provider is the directory available on the NDIS website, which you can find here. This is a comprehensive tool that provides a list of all NDIS registered service providers that can be broken down by state/territory and postcode.
There are other directories available online such as NDIS Provider Finder and My Disability Service that also have comprehensive lists of NDIS providers, though they may not necessarily include all registered providers. The listings include a rundown of each organisation’s services and allow clients to submit user reviews.
Research providers
Once you have identified potential providers that, at least on paper, fit the goals outlined in your NDIS plan, you can then perform more detailed research concerning whether or not they are the best fit for you.
Get in contact with the organisation and ask questions about what services they provide and how they are delivered. Also, talk to people who have utilised their services and ask about what their experiences were like. To this end, social media can be an invaluable tool to connect with communities and discuss your options. It’s important to just get a sense of what their values are: are they family oriented? Are their services centred around promoting independence?
At Community Access Care, our services prioritise a collaborative approach that recognises the importance of including loved ones in decision making processes and creating spaces where people with a disability can achieve a sense of autonomy in their living circumstances. This is delivered through our in-home care services that focus on finding solutions to give our clients greater control of their daily lives as well as services that provide clients with an opportunity to be involved in the community and pursue interests outside the home.
Look to your plan
Your NDIS plan, and how any prospective provider fits into it or not, is fundamentally one of the most important considerations. The right NDIS provider should fully understand your plan and what your goals are.
Work closely with your plan manager to ensure that providers are able to help you achieve what is set out in your plan and what costs will be involved. If you are not using a plan manager, reach out to a local area coordinator who can help you navigate the NDIS and work to ensure that you are able to connect with providers that are best suited to satisfying your requirements.
Ultimately, doing your due diligence is essential. Take advantage of all the resources available to you, online or otherwise, to make an informed decision about which NDIS service providers are best suited to your needs.
